Academy of Art University: New York Fashion Week

The Academy of Art University is located in San Francisco, California. It was originally founded by Richard S. Stephens in 1929, and has since changed its name. It is one of the largest private schools for design and art in the United States. The university has 12,600 students, 1154 part-time teaching staff, and 283 full-time teachers.

New names of fashion designers are pushed into the spotlight during New York Fashion Week. On September 9th, 2017, the School of Fashion from the Academy of Art University presented its 21st runway show at Skylight Clarkson Square. For this season, there were ten master and bachelor graduates who showcased their two men’s clothing collections, five women’s clothing collections, and two collaboration collections.

These collections impressed many people including Sara Kozlowski and Ms. J Alexander. Sara Kozlowski is the Director of Professional Development and Education at CFDA, and Ms. J Alexander is from the famous series, America’s Next Top Model. The top names of mention were Jelly Shan, Ryan Yu, Cana Klebanoff, Joanna Jadallah, Saya Shen, Carlos Rodriguez, Dina Lam, Eden Slezin, and Hailun Zhou. In front of the world, they showed off their fashion lines and presented their visions.

All of the designs had a different story to tell. The materials were composed of fusing materials, PVC, vinyl, vintage denim, bike tubes, wool blends, cashmere knits, brocades, lambskin leather, jersey, patent wool, and several other fabrics and materials. Each design came from thoughts or ideas about particular elements and/or concepts. All of the last-minute hours of labor gave the audience a great show and exhibited the student’s talents.
