Mr. Sergey Petrossov is the founder and CEO of JetSmarter, a global digital community for private jet travels. It is valued at 1.5 billion and has the financial backing of celebrities and members of royalty.
Sergey and his family moved to the U.S. in 1988. They would live in California, Colorado before settling in South Florida. Sergey Petrossov would go to high school and enroll in the University of Florida, where he obtained a degree in finance, although he had a knack for mathematics and analytics as well. At the university, he and some of his engineering friends built a chat service that combined audio and video to assist websites with customer service applications in place. After graduating in 2009, Petrossov co-founded a distance learning educational program that was based in the clouds. The courses were geared toward Eastern European and Russian students whose schools lacked sufficient funds for expensive software.
In addition to obtaining his degree in 2009, Sergey Petrossov had the opportunity to go on a flight with a private jet operator. He learned that in order for individuals to book flights; they had to go through a lengthy process of calling, waiting, faxing and scanning to just reserve a simple private flight. This made Petrossov think of a way to upgrade an archaic system.
For eight months in 2012, Sergey Petrossov and a tech team came together to create an app they referred to as JetSmarter. After testing with family and friends, Sergey would release it to the public in 2013. Now, people would be able to reserve jet planes, book seats that were previously empty and share rides with other like-minded folks who might be going to the same destination. Information about prices and flights was accessible at the touch of their fingertips upon the screens of their devices.
In fact, after Sergey Petrossov launched JetSmarter to the public, it was sought after and folks downloaded it more than 300,000 times by 2014.
