What The Fortress Investment Group Does And The History

When the Fortress Investment Group was initially founded it was meant to be just a private equity firm. However since opening its doors back in 1998 the firm has evolved into a global investment firm with a very diversified portfolio. Since the companies latest portfolio update as of June 2019 the company currently has 40.9 billion dollars worth of assets under its management. The company currently has almost 1800 investors that consist of both the private and public sectors. The Fortress Investment Group is currently home based in New York City. The Fortress Investment Group currently consists of four different segments and they are credit private equity, private equity, permanent capital vehicles, and credit hedge funds.

The current leaders of the Fortress Investment Group are three very successful businessmen and entrepreneurs by the names of Peter Briger, Wesley Edens, and Randal Nardone. Peter Briger is currently the principal and co-chief executive officer. Wesley Edens is currently the companies co-founder, principal, and co-chief executive officer. Randal Nardone is also one of the co-founders and Principals. Peter Briger also runs the credit and real estate division at the Fortress Group. Peter Briger is also a Princeton University and he also attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a masters degree in business administration.

Wesley Edens is in charge of running the Fortress Groups private equity and alternative investment sector of the business. Before Wesley Edens co- founded the Fortress Group he was a managing partner at a company called BlackRock Financial Management. He is also a former partner at a company Lehman Brothers. Wesley Edens also attended Oregon State University and he graduated with a bachelor degree in finance. Randal Nardone basically just oversees the entire operation of the Fortress Group and he also sits on the companies board of directors. Before Randal Nardone co-founded the Fortress Investment Group he held the position as managing director for a company called UBS. He was also a partner of a law firm called Thacher Proffitt & Wood. Randal Nardone attend the University of Connecticut and graduated with a bachelor degree in English and biology. He also attended Boston University School of Law and graduated with his Juris doctor degree.
