Local Prison Uses Securus Technologies to Tighten Security

Over the last few years, we have seen our local prison experience a huge upswing in violence. The underlying reason is a combination of drug, weapons, and increased gang population, and up until now we had little we could do to stop the trouble from getting worse. My team of corrections officers would implement a few techniques like scanning guests and inmates for contraband or doing surprise cell inspections, but the inmates can be quite cunning when need be.


To help reduce violence in the jail directed at my staff of officers, we have decided it was time to try utilizing some outside resources in the quest to locking down our facility. The call we made to Securus Technologies has proven already to be a huge plus, and we hope that by the end of the year we see a reduction in violent episodes by half. This is now achievable thanks in part to the technology that Securus Technologies brings to the table.


The Securus Technologies company is based in Dallas-Texas, and the CEO of that company, Richard Smith, says his unique inmate call monitoring system can already be found working in thousands of jails all over this country.


Since we were taught how to use the LBS software, my team can focus on issues in the jail while the system is scanning calls the inmates make on jail phones. If the inmates discuss things like drugs or weapons, an alert goes out to my team, and we can take instant action to take care of the issue before it can get out of hand and put us at risk.
